Resample without losing a line's curves?

Hi! I'm wondering if there is a way to add mileage markers to a line without losing curves. I'd like to add markers every mile or half mile to a route and figured the resample option should do the trick. I tried resampling the line & adding the markers, but my line got straightened out in the process.

Is there a way to undo or go back to the line as it was before resampling?

Maybe I can copy the line before resampling it? I read through the discussion "copy and reverse a line" but can't find a copy or clone option on my screen- where should I look for these choices?

That is on the to-do list to address, but at the moment there is not a way to add waypoints without also adjusting the line.

Copying a line, resampling, and then deleting the resampled line while keeping the waypoints is the only way to do it. However note that the waypoints will be spaced according to the straight-line distance between them, and not the distance along the original route. So this can give you waypoints that are 1/2 mile apart, but not waypoints every 1/2 mile along your actual travel route.

The clone options are available by right-clicking on the line, under the "convert" submenu.

This has now been addressed - under the "modify" right-click menu, there is a new "create points" option separate from resampling.
