bing aerial maps

Hello, is there a way to add bing aerial maps to caltopo ?

    Sorry, no.

    Even if you were to grab the URL template from somewhere, Bing uses a quadkey tile format instead of separate z/x/y numbers, which isn't something I have support for.

    ok thanks for your reply, it would be nice to have this feature in the future,as it is very useful to have other sources of satellie images from the same place when trying to do new trails.

    It's something I'd like to add at some point, but it's definitely not a priority at the moment. If I were to add support for quadkey tiles, I still couldn't add Bing as a default imagery source due to licensing issues; usage would be restricted to people who add it as a custom source, which is a pretty small set of users.

    A more likely option would be MapBox imagery. If you get an API key from them you might be able to add their imagery source as a custom layer now; I haven't looked into the details of adding it as a default source yet.
