New Zealand NZTM
Hi
I am a volunteer with a search and rescue team in New Zealand. We already use D4H and are looking to identify a topo platform.
We like SARTopo, especially as NZ topo maps are loaded.
However, the coordinate system does not provide NZTM, which is the coordinate system used locally, and on NZ topo maps. Is there any chance you could introduce it please?
Also, I recently watched the video blog with you and D4H, and I noted the snap to function when creating lines or other objects on the map. Do we need to build the underlying map layer to create snap to, or is there an existing map layer that will allow that for NZ?
Cheers, Johnny

Hi Johnny,
Thanks for reaching out! I will submit your request to include NZTM coordinates as an option for consideration. We often take a variety of user requests and incorporate them into a larger function, so stay tuned as we release new features throughout the year!
As far as snap to in New Zealand goes, snap to does work for OpenStreetMap and hydrology data in New Zealand. You can change the snap to setting in the Config menu or in the snap to drop down menu that appears when you are measuring or drawing a line. Since MapBuilder Topo draws its data from OSM, this base layer is a good choice for using with either of those snap to settings. More information on the snap to function can be found in the Snap To section of our training site.
Please note that the underlying data source for the Scanned Topos base layer is different than OSM so you may notice differences in trails, roads etc if you are using the two together.
Best,
Meghan

Hi Meghan
Thank you.
It all makes sense now.
I look forward to NZTM being incorporated at some point in the future.
Ngā mihi,
Johnny
