Embedded profile with map

Many running, cycling and other events would benefit from embedded interactive maps (e.g., iframes) with corresponding profiles.

Example: this embedded "trace du trail" interactive map with profile for a run on the Galibier https://www.trailgalibierthabor.com/fr/trail-du-galibier

The caltopo interface is much more elegant, IMO.

I'm trying to create an interactive map for the Western States Endurance Run (which starts in your neck of the woods).

    Hi Torsten,
Good feedback. We definitely have a fair number of races that are using our mapping. I think you probably know that you can share a CalTopo map already in an iFrame. I'm going to forward this to a developer and see if there's a quick and easy way to iFrame with a default display of the elevation profile. (I attached a screenshot - is something that what you envision?)

    Thanks for the support.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for the quick response. OK to respond via email (or better to do
    within the knowledgebase)?

Yes, I tested it in an iframe and it works great, to a point (e.g., here:

Yes, to your question. And, ideally, the route cursor and the profile spot
    (?) would correspond.

People love to know whats going on with development so no problem sharing here. Talked a little with our developer, we can do this and absolutely see a benefit, not sure of exact timeframe, probably not this week, but its now on our development board. In that screen shot the vertical black line of the curser corresponds to the blue dot on the map and they move in conjunction. It's essentially a matter of adding some sort of flag to indicate for that iframe have the profile open by default.

    Thanks for supporting CalTopo

Looking to work on this in the next few months, but it won't be a this week/this month thing. We actually want to add a few more race specific features. Reach out to blantow (at) caltopo.com and I'd love to talk a little about some race specific feature sets.
