Zoom control while drawing lines

The recent change removing scroll wheel zoom while drawing lines is driving me crazy, it's painfully slow to draw tracks now. In many cases, it's practically unusable.

I read that this can't be fixed due to a change with the Google maps interface (http://help.caltopo.com/discussions/bugs/3331-mouse-wheel-not-zooming-during-line-creation). As an alternative, perhaps a keyboard shortcut for zoom control could be added? I've noticed that many other sites using embedded Google maps use Control+Scroll Wheel for zoom.

Used to be smooth and easy. Now clumsy and frustrating. A keyboard solution would be awesome.

Same here. Is it possible to send feedback to Google (not that it would
accomplish anything)? What's the latest version of sar.jar that still
allows mouse-zoom-during-draw? Is the idea of downgrading the relevant
part of the interface a realistic notion?

I'm confused, as I thought this was always a Google maps provided feature that didn't apply to the offline version. I checked an offline version from Feb (well before this recent issue) and there's no scrollwheel zooming.

I don't have an update yet but I will be looking into options.

Interesting, I just tried sar.jar 3644 (8/3/17) and it also does not allow
mouse-wheel-zoom-while-drawing. I thought it used to exist offline, but,
apparently like you say it never did. My mistake - so in terms of offline,
this would sit squarely in the realm of 'feature request', yet, apparently
one that we have done fine without, subconsciously, for a long time.

Also - sorry to have temporarily hijacked this thread. The original post
was probably regarding the online version. If a keyboard shortcut ever
does happen for online, it would be swell if it could also work its way in
    to offline. Thanks

I've added scrollwheel zooming while drawing (both online and offline). It's fairly basic at this point, and zooms int/out at a significantly different rate than Google Maps (which seems to require a lot of scrollwheel movement for a zoom change), but about the same rate as OpenLayers. It may be a bit jarring to transition between the two rates, but I don't think I can realistically do anything about that without taking over scrollwheel based zooming entirely.

I just gave it a try, and both scroll wheel directions result in zooming out. Thank you so much for working on this, I really appreciate it!

AS, what browser are you using? It looks like there's a bug with this in Firefox.

Firefox it is, version 62.0 on Linux. It looks like Chromium and Chrome work. Thanks!

Should be fixed on Firefox now.

Thanks Matt for getting this in there so quickly. Any idea when it will
show up in the offline version?

This will be in the next offline version (currently beta testing).
