I posted in the General Discussion forum hoping there is already a means to my inquiry - see that forum for more information.

In short, what I'd like to accomplish is the ability to buffer along a line (such as an imported GPX) and run a viewshed analysis to identify what is visible/not visible along said route.

I responded to the separate issues, but I'm still struggling to understand the overlap between the buffering and the viewshed - are you wanting to run the viewshed for everything within the buffer, limit the viewshed to the buffer, or something else?

I think he means build a buffer, so turn the line into a polygon, and then highlight everything that would be visible from anywhere in that polygon.
