Interior of buffer incorrectly included

I am trying to create a buffer area but found that when the outside edges of the buffer zone overlap, the polygon created includes the inner area that should be excluded. See https://sartopo.com/m/G7NK for an example.

The buffer should start at the lower right and follow the trail northwest before turning northeast and then south around the lake. Given a 50-meter buffer, the center should not be included in the polygon.

Compare with https://sartopo.com/m/8BQG

I believe that issue is that when the outer edge of the buffer zones touch, SARTopo is not adding the inside area as an island to exclude from the final area.

SARTopo does not support polygon interior rings, and the only way to show that buffer without interior rings is to either have parts of the polygon overlap itself (which would cause other issues), or omit the donut hole.
