offline maps

I downloaded a bunch of offline maps before I went on a backpacking trip. I used up the allowable 5 GB and thought I had a bunch of NM and a lot of southern CO.
When I was out in the Gila Wilderness in southwestern NM last week I tried to open the offline maps but it got stuck stating it was loading - forever. I tried turning off airplane mode thinking that may have been the issue but it didn't help. I ended up using OsmAnd+ instead.
Thinking I had loaded too many maps I've been trying to figure out how to delete some of what I've downloaded. Is there a way to do that?
Should the offline mode still work with a bunch of maps loaded? If not, it would be nice to pick and choose what you have on your phone for any given outing.

To confirm, this is with the android app? I doubt it has anything to do with the number of maps you've downloaded, but there may be a bug related to opening the download page (which reaches out for a fresh copy of the downloadable quadrants) when you have airplane mode on or don't have cell reception (glad you had a backup, sory about that, app is still in beta).

All the downloaded maps are accessible under Android/data/com.caltopo.android/files/tiles. The naming convention is the layer, lat, long, and then the 15x15 minute block within that lat/long. Instead of deleting them you can copy =them off your phone to free up space, and then back on as needed.

Yes. This was on my Samsung Galaxy.
I've tried this again at home and I get the same problem. It just sits and spins saying loading but never loads. Also, in the background there is text:
    {"error":"Error getting error code"}.

    Greg -

I cleared some of your map download usage. Within the app, if you go to 3-bar menu -> Settings -> Account Detail -> Sync Now, then close and reopen the app, do you still get an error page / perpetual loading message on the map downloader? That would help us isolate whether it's due to exceeding your download quota. I haven't had time to test that on my phone yet, but this way you get a few extra GBs of maps as well.

Yes. If I turn on airplane mode as I would if I was out in the field I still get the perpetual loading issue.
I then downloaded two more sections (blue rectangles) and tried again. So long as I am in Airplane mode I get the perpetual loading problem.
I intentionally got my location, which is in the middle of the map section I just downloaded, and then turned on Airplane mode. Once again... perpetual loading. But I notice the error message I was seeing before is gone.

I think I misunderstood your earlier message. Can you confirm that this only happens when:

    1) you are in airplane mode

    2) you go to the "offline layers" download page

Sorry if this is unrelated, but from your phrasing I want to make sure you're clear that the "offline layers" menu option is for downloading map layers only, not for use while offline. Once downloaded, you can use the layers in standard map viewer while offline.
