Easy way to get my current GPS-sourced lat long location into a text message, so that I can text my location to people?
What is the easiest way to do this?
Thanks!

Hi Tom,
To share your location, first just tap the "locate me" button to center the app on your location. Once it had your location, in the top right of the map is the coordinates box. Tap on that, and it will bring up the sharing functions on your phone.
Thanks,
Julie

Thanks.
Is there any way to directly copying the "location at the GPS" rather than the location at the center of the map, kinda like the "Marker at GPS" feature?

There is but it is more tedious. You could add the marker at the GPS, then open the marker and copy the coordinates and paste them into a text. We do not have a feature that shares the location without first centering the map on that location.

Regarding using the CalTopo to obtain lat long of your current location, I think this is a "safer" and less error-prone method, that does not require that the map be centered on your location
From the CalTopo app:
- Click on the little box thingie in the lower right of the map
- Click on "Marker at GPS"
- Click into the "Coordinates" box, hold down, and click "Select All"
- Select "Copy" to copy the coordinates
- Open a text message, click and hold down in the body of the message, and select "Paste" to paste the coordinates into the text message
Feature request: Provide a way to do this with fewer clicks

Just trying to understand and make sure I'm clear. You are looking for a way to copy the current GPS location without centering the map on that GPS location?
Best,
Ben

Yes.
Use cases:
- Send a friend the current lat and long of my location, to keep the friend updated about where I am.
- In an emergency send the current lat and long of my location to a friend
- In an emergency send the current lat and long of my location to 911, using "text to 911"

When I click on the little box thingie in the lower right of the map, these 3 "options" appear: Keep Centered, Record Track, Marker at GPS.
There is lots of space on this screen for additional "options".
So maybe add a 4th option called "Share Location at GPS", that brings up a "Share" screen similar to the "Share" screen I see when I click on the coordinates box. in the top right of the map? Just an idea/suggestion.
